What should we be looking for when choosing music and videos to share with children and teens?  I like to look for songs that promote acceptance and respect for self and others, healthy body image, empowerment, and resilience.  Videos should represent diverse body types, standards of beauty, ethnicities, gender expressions, and sexual orientations.  Here are links to some of my favorites, organized roughly in order of age appropriateness.

Description from TheMotherCompany:
In this super fun, foot-stomping music video from http://rubysstudio.com kids are empowered to become the Boss of their own bodies - to stand up for themselves and others - and trust their own internal "uh-oh feeling" to get out of any situation that doesn't feel right.

This video is a sneak peek from "The Safety Show," in the the award-winning "Ruby's Studio" video series for kids. To find out more, visit http://TheMotherCo.com.  Written and Produced by The Mother Company, Directed by Julie Hermelin, Starring Marlee Hightower, Published on Oct 7, 2013
