FREQUENTLY
ASKED QUESTIONS

How long do your workshops & educational programs last?

Typically, stand-alone workshops for adults are 1-3 hours in length, and workshop series range from 3 to 6 sessions (totaling 6 to 18 hours), depending on the needs of the group.  Educational programs for youth generally provide 4-10 hours of instruction over a 1- to 3-week period.  One-time presentations are also available.  Ultimately, each workshop or program is tailored to the needs of the particular group, so let me know what you need, and we'll create the program that works best for you!

Are your workshops inclusive of LGBTQIA+ families & kids?

Absolutely!  Bird and Bee Education is committed to providing inclusive learning environments for all youth, families, and communities.  Adult workshops and educational programs for youth are always created with diverse family structures, gender identities, and sexual orientations in mind.  Custom workshops are also available if families or organizations wish to explore sexuality health topics through a specifically LGBTQIA+ lens.

Are you going to talk to my young child about sex?

Picture
Many families are concerned that the material covered during Sex Ed will expose their child or teen to explicit information about sex.  Bird and Bee Education's curricula and lessons are always designed with educational codes and developmental guidelines in mind.  What can't be planned, of course, are the questions and comments that students bring up, which may introduce topics that are outside the scope of what would normally be taught at a particular grade.  My job is to address those questions and comments in a manner that is honest, medically accurate, respectful of the student who asked, and age-appropriate for the rest of the group who is listening.  How I answer questions differs significantly between Kindergarten, 4th, or 8th grades.  To see more about what is considered appropriate at what age, click here for links to Education Codes and published guidelines for Sex Ed.

What if we are working with a limited budget?

Bird and Bee Education's fees are intended to reflect the level of experience, preparation, and love that go into crafting each workshop and educational program.  At the same time, I feel passionately about increasing access for under-served communities, and I will always take your school or group's constraints into account in developing a package that can work for you.  I also look forward to building the means to offer lower-cost options for youth, families, and communities who have limited resources on a consistent basis.  Don't hesitate to contact me to explore how we can make it work, regardless of your budget!
